Leaving Soon

As I was organizing my collection of trinkets, I saw her walk up as if not a single decade had passed - Aayla Secura, my old friend. Her distinctive blue skin and warm hazel eyes were accompanied by a mischievous smile.

"Ah, my dear droid friend, it has been far too long," Aayla said as she approached me. "I've come to check on you and see how your collection has grown."

As I guided Aayla through my treasure trove, I felt delight welling up within me. While I explained the stories behind each item, I also noticed the way she truly listened, appreciating the beauty of these objects that kept me connected to the universe beyond my isolated existence.

We began to reminisce about our past, and Aayla shared her own experiences as a Jedi Master. She spoke of the many battles she had fought, the soldiers she had commanded, and the difficult decisions she had made. She mentioned her deep connection to her own master, Quinlan Vos, who had been like a father to her.

Before long, we found ourselves standing on the edge of a cliff, gazing at the vibrant horizon. The sunset cast a warm glow over Ryloth, bathing the landscape in a mix of crimson and gold. Sensing her thoughts were elsewhere, I spoke up, asking, "You're leaving soon, aren't you?"

Aayla smiled softly and placed her hand on my cold metallic shoulder. "Yes, my journey as a Jedi must continue. I've been assigned to Felucia, a beautiful and fascinating world."

“Felucia,” I copy the word, unfamiliar with the endless expanse of space and communities that lie within it.

"It's a colorful, humid jungle planet located in the Outer Rim Territories," she explained. "The jungles there are filled with unique combinations of fungi species, making it unlike any other place in the galaxy."

As I processed the information, I tilted my head and asked, "What are you going to do there?"

Aayla's smile grew wider as she shared her mission. "Felucia is a major battleground in the Clone Wars, and I'll be part of the effort to protect it. The planet's strategic location along the Perlemian Trade Route and its valuable crop, nysillin, make it a prime target. Nysillin is an incredible healing plant, farmed by the native Felucian tribes."

She paused, recentering herself through meditation. I could see the subtle shift in her posture and breathing, evidence of the discipline she had developed during her Jedi training.

"You know, the jungles of Felucia are truly otherworldly. The thick, humid air and the various fungi species create a riot of colors that seem to glow under the light of the sun. It's said that the dense jungles are a haven for various bioluminescent plants and fungi, making it appear as though the forest is bathed in a sea of stars at night."

As I visualized the scene Aayla described, my eyes gleamed with wonder. "That sounds enchanting," I said.

Aayla's thoughts drifted back to her childhood, when she was just a young girl exploring the world around her with insatiable curiosity. I had always been there as a steadfast companion and guardian, teaching her about our home planet and all its wonders.

She spoke of her recruitment by the Jedi Order at a young age, recognizing her strong connection to the Force. Their belief was that starting her training early would help her avoid the emotional pitfalls that could lead to the dark side. Despite leaving her family and life behind, Aayla remembered her time with me fondly.

"I've missed you and my family so much," she confessed, her voice tinged with both sorrow and affection. "Fighting in this war has been difficult, but the memory of our time together has given me the strength to carry on."

I looked at Aayla, reminiscing about the small girl with bright eyes full of life and wonder. I felt a sense of pride for the strong and courageous Jedi she had become.

"You've always had a connection to the beauty and life around you, Aayla. I believe that Felucia's vibrant environment will only strengthen that connection and help you continue on your path as a Jedi. Never forget the love for life that has always been a part of you."

Touched by my words, Aayla smiled at me. As we embraced one last time, she whispered, "Thank you for everything, my friend. I will carry your wisdom with me always."

With a final farewell, I watched Aayla board her transport, her heart heavy yet filled with hope for the journey ahead. As the ship disappeared into the sky, I remained behind, watching until the last trace of my dear friend had vanished.
