20 Curl
As Curl traversed the alien terrain, the sleek metallic exoskeleton that encased his body moved with ease, allowing him to explore the world around him without restriction. His neurological condition, which had been a constant battle in the Real World, could no longer hold him back. He had a mission to fulfill, in order to unite the extraterrestrial kingdoms.
As he journeyed further into the unknown, Curl encountered a mesmerizing creature, her blue skin shimmering in the alien sun. Her bright pink eyes captivated him instantly, and her pastel pink hair flowed like a waterfall. The alluring green dress she wore clung to her body, revealing just enough to stir feelings within him.
She was laying back on a rock in the middle of a river, her legs crossed and her face towards the sky. Her sleek features turned towards him as she heard the heavy footsteps of his metal frame.
“Hello there, stranger,” the alien greeted him cheerily, her sharp, shark-like teeth exposed in a warm smile. “I’m Aki.”
Curl hesitated, realizing that this was the target. “I’m Curl,” he replied, his voice tinged with caution. “What are you doing here?”
Aki’s laughter chimed like bells in the air, her bubbly personality contrasting with Curl’s caution. “Oh, just enjoying this beautiful day! What brings you here?”
As they spoke, Curl noticed Aki’s body and color morphing with her emotions, much like an octopus attempting to blend in with its surroundings. However, she did the opposite, each form standing out in new, unique ways that entranced him.
She uncrossed her legs and stood up, wading across the shallow river to the banks before him. She perked up as he mentioned his duties and allegiances. Her effervescent point of view was a shimmering rainbow next to the gunmetal gray exterior that he steeled himself with.
Their conversation delved into the philosophical, Curl’s caution slowly giving way to enjoyment as he found himself lost in Aki’s words. Her laughter and light-hearted chatter filled him with a sense of adoration he had never experienced before.
“Would you like to play with my hair?” Aki asked suddenly, her eyes twinkling with curiosity. Curl hesitated, his rough exoskeleton hands unaccustomed to handling something so delicate and beautiful.
“I- I suppose,” he caved, reaching out to touch her silky locks. As he began to twist and braid her hair, he caught glimpses of her dainty, freckled shoulders, and felt his heart grow to the edges of its cage. The revelation that he had fallen in love washed over him, like the gentle waves of an ocean.
At that moment, Curl knew that he could no longer carry out his mission to eliminate Aki. He had found love in the most unexpected of places, and he couldn’t imagine completing the mission. Instead, he chose to elope with the captivating alien princess, defying the political machinations that had sought her demise. He had been taken hostage.
