“You’re comfortable with us being here for this part, right?” Sara asked, the prompts turning quite personal. Sun nodded, saying that it’s much better that they are here for this part. Besides, Sara and Markus will be able to learn a bit more about Sun.
They were navigating through Content Filters. There were common lists, filtering out taboos. There were categories that had nested categories with increasingly more specific subjects. One could completely filter sex, or they could filter specific sexual situations. The device could optionally alter the experience to better suit the user’s preferences.
For each click of their holographic display, they were able to specify how the device handled the situation. Sun’s face flushed at some of the options, but took a deep breath and kept going. This was one of the most important parts of the setups. Not only avoiding uncomfortable or traumatic situations, but shaping a pleasurable existence in the Virtual World.
Sun unchecked Anal, with the alternate preference to simply exchange it for Vaginal. It’s a bit strange to wrap their mind around how users can have a shared experience that the Meta Device just outright changes. Which actually happens in that scenario? The simple answer is, for each user, exactly what they perceive. What truly happened isn’t the question, because there is no one event. Every event happens individually on each device.
“Just to let you know, I would respect your wishes even if your device would filter it out…” Markus said, his face changing as he realized what that insinuated.
“Smooth, Doofus,” Sara pushed him over, “I know what you meant to say, but time and place.”
Sun turned an even deeper shade of crimson, their ears on fire. It took them a bit of time to get the idea out of their head and refocus. There was nothing like a group bonding experience than to go through likes and dislikes of every possible sexual scenario. Partway through the lists, they all felt a lot more comfortable and started joking about the weird shit they found.
“I’m honestly not even going to filter this one, cuz it’s so damn specific that if it happens to me, I’M DOING SOMETHING RIGHT,” Sun laughs at the absurdity.
“I’ll take a note of that one for later,” Sara winked at Sun in good taste, “Goddamn that’s quite the description. You know people had to do this enough for it to be put on the list!!!”
The dreaded sections of setup became easy, and even fun, with these two. Sun wouldn’t be able to handle most of this stuff on their own, these subjects were completely off limits in their traditional family. Sara comes from a family that openly talks about sexuality, consent, safewords, the whole nine yards. Markus grew up with the Meta Device, going to school that specifically taught about all the uses, settings, and social phenomena of the Virtual World. Between the two, Sun couldn’t be in better hands. They trusted them with every fiber of their being, and the two earned it. They were basically saved from their family that didn’t understand them. Sara and Markus understood.
